APCO Electric began business in early 2000 as a family-owned and operated electrical contracting firm in Arvada, Colorado. Over the years, APCO has successfully completed a variety of projects ranging from single family dwellings to 120-room hotels, small neighborhood eateries to large fine dining establishments, and even small dentist offices to spine surgical centers. Ken Appelhans was the original founder of APCO Electric with his brother Tim Appelhans, who is still a foreman electrician at APCO. While Ken is nearing retirement he is still involved in Estimating and Project Management and a member of the leadership team.
Sara Jensen serves as the President of APCO Electric. Sara has been involved in the company since its inception and she has been the full time Office Manager since 2007. Sara handles accounting, human resources, marketing, and project support for both field employees and project managers from initial project startup through completion. Sara also helps manage the apprenticeship program and is the co-chair of the safety committee. Sara has both a Bachelors Degree and Masters Degree in Accounting from the University of Denver.
Richard Delgado currently serves as a Vice President at APCO Electric and handles Estimating and Project Management. Richard has over 14 years of electrical experience and began his career as an apprentice with APCO Electric. Richard completed the electrical program at Red Rocks Community College and went on to teach residential and commercial installation classes for the school. After earning his Colorado Journeyman license, Richard has worked his way up Lead Foreman and is currently estimating and performing project management for APCO. Richard holds a Master Electrical license.
Sam Gluck currently serves as a Vice President at APCO Electric and handles Estimating, Project Management as well as recruiting, marketing and he is the safety co-chairman. As a 2nd generation professional electrician for more than 25 years here in Colorado, Sam has developed an extensive portfolio of clients in public, private and specialty client arenas. Sam’s responsibilities include staff development, vetting and training of journeymen and apprentices for project specific implementation, oversight of the client development group, client direct sales/negotiations, design/build assist work, as well as project design and management. As a former apprenticeship instructor with IECRM trade organization, Sam appreciates what accredited schooling provides for the new generation of craftsmen, as he has held a Colorado Masters license since 1998. Sam has substantial experience managing personnel and complex field installations where keeping the clients’ best interest in mind. Developed clients span all industries and across multiple verticals, and have included companies such as Vestas Wind Blade Plant Windsor, UQM Technologies, Premier Manufacturing, City of Aurora Water, Colorado School of Mines, Noffsinger Mfg., ESCO of Colorado HVAC Projects, Buckley Air Force Base projects, Demo work with Fiore & Sons, Corporex, Hyatt Hotels, Len Lyall Chevrolet, and many more. Sam is an avid business networker within the electrical industry, serving on IEC Veterans Committee (US Navy Veteran) and Boy Scouts of America committees. As an active sportsman/hunter/conservationist, Sam has served as a volunteer for DU. Sam is a lifelong Colorado resident raised between Leadville and Longmont, attending college in Greeley (UNC) and Boulder (CU) as a student athlete.
